YOUNITE India has made significant strides in combating tuberculosis (TB) through collaborative efforts and youth-led initiatives:

Impact

• 18 State Networks engaged.

Collaboration with 18 State-Level TB Networks: 

YOUNITE India engaged representatives from 18 State TB Networks to explore pathways for strengthening youth participation in TB responses. This collaboration laid the foundation for state-level youth engagement strategies and future partnerships.

• National youth engagement strategy discussions initiated.

TB Awareness Workshop with Adolescent Girls in Delhi Slums:

More than 50 adolescent girls participated in an awareness workshop focused on TB prevention, symptoms, treatment, and stigma reduction.

Outcomes:

• Increased awareness among adolescent girls.

• Youth commitment to community awareness efforts.

• Survivor-led storytelling sessions.

TB Awareness Workshop in Mumbai Schools:

YOUNITE India reached over 100+ students and school staff through educational sessions on TB awareness and youth leadership.

Key Results

• Improved understanding of TB symptoms and prevention.

• Increased awareness of government initiatives such as the          Ni-kshay Mitra and Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana .

• Enhanced youth engagement in TB elimination efforts.

Manipur HIV-Orphanage Outreach:

A special TB awareness session was conducted for adolescents living with HIV in Mantripukhri, Manipur.

•Children aged 12–17 are educated on TB prevention and             treatment.

• Strengthened support for vulnerable communities.

To mark National Youth Day 2025, YOUNITE India launched a custom Instagram filter promoting youth engagement in the 100 Days TB Elimination Campaign.

Mahakumbh TB Awareness Campaign

YOUNITE India organised a large-scale public awareness initiative during Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj.

Activities

• Flash mob awareness rallies.

• Interactive public engagement .

• Distribution of educational materials.

Outcome

Thousands of pilgrims and community members were reached with lifesaving information about TB.

Looking Ahead: Priorities for 2026-2027

As YOUNITE India continues to strengthen youth leadership in the fight against tuberculosis, the network remains committed to expanding its reach, deepening community engagement, and advancing meaningful youth participation in health governance. Key priorities for 2026–27 include:

1. Expanding National Reach – Establish and strengthen YOUNITE India chapters across additional              states, with a particular focus on underserved regions, including the North East and Southern India.

2. Building Youth Leadership – Train and mentor at least 500 new Youth TB Champions to lead                    advocacy, awareness, and community engagement initiatives.

3. Strengthening Policy Engagement – Increase youth representation and participation in national,             state, and global health policy and decision-making platforms.

4. Scaling Digital Advocacy – Expand nationwide digital campaigns to raise awareness on TB                       prevention, treatment, stigma reduction, and youth engagement.

5. Enhancing TB Literacy and Community Education – Strengthen treatment literacy and community         awareness initiatives to improve access to information and support for affected populations.

6. Promoting Inclusion and Equity – Deepen engagement with key and vulnerable populations,                    ensuring that youth from diverse communities are meaningfuly represented in TB responses.

7. Strengthening Strategic Partnerships – Foster colaboration with government programmes,                        academic  institutions, civil society organisations, and development partners to enhance colective          impact.

8. Advancing Sustainable Health Financing Advocacy – Mobilize youth voices to advocate for                      increased domestic and global investments in TB and broader public health priorities.

9. Generating Youth-Led Evidence – Support research, documentation, and communityled monitoring         initiatives to inform policies and strengthen accountability in TB responses.

10. Strengthening the Youth TB Movement – Build a sustainable and connected national network of              young advocates committed to achieving India's goal of ending TB.
